Back to the Midlands
It's raining and I'm in Rugby
Family duties have brought me back to the Warwickshire for the third time in a week. An hour or so of driving in the dark and in heavy rain have steered me to the Merchant's Inn, the site of a former wine merchant that is now a pub that, if you didn't know the location, you could mistake for the Red Lion in Histon. Both feature wall to wall beer memorabilia, stone floors and 9 or 10 real ale hand pumps. This is no surprise to me as I'm familiar with the story of how the one-time owner of the Histon pub opened the Rugby pub with one of the owners of Nethergate Brewery.
Just after 8pm - time for a quick Bishop's Farewell. Like the pub name, I'm adding the apostrophe to satisfy my inner punctuation prefect. I don't have long. The aged p is fretting and I'll probably get another phone call if I don't leave soon.
Notes to self: 1 Add a placeholder for background image uploads with a progress bar. 2 Add a search to find every instance of 'note to self' – I'm sure there must be a few by now.
