Friday. 5:35. Crackerjack!
I can't remember the actual time Crackerjack was broadcast – I think it varied – but it definitely had one or two 5s in it.
It feels like it's been a long, tough week. It could be partly due to getting towards the end of a project and hitting the bit that needs thoroughness – lists of forms and functions that need to be completed and/or tested.
Icons & Flyouts
I'm probably not the only coder in the world that sometimes has an idea, and then takes 5 minutes to try something only to find that 5 minutes is half a day or more. This week's wormhole/rabbit-hole was adding an icon selector to my CMS. You see an element and think 'I want an icon in that', you click the + and a 'flyout' panel appears with 1900+ icons to choose from – searchable of course, there's 1900+ of them.
The good news is that I managed to complete the new widget thing, fully. More good news is that I trained my code robot to be able to be able to add the same flyout-selector combo to any module. And more god news: the was almost immediately a use case for it which has been rolled out into a production environment.
